FinnGen account request

Welcome to the FinnGen account request form!

This form is used to apply for a FinnGen account (usually firstname.lastname@finngen.fi); you will need the account to access services and data of the FinnGen project.

This form is intended for the employees of FinnGen partners and partner institutions only. If you have not been explicitly asked to fill this form by the FinnGen project or your employer, you are most probably not supposed to apply for a FinnGen account!

If you arrived here by accident and have never heard of the FinnGen project, you are not supposed to fill in this form. To learn more about the project, please visit our website.

All FinnGen accounts are personal and may not be shared among users. In case your team member needs access to FinnGen resources, he/she should apply for a separate account. Note that the number of individuals getting FinnGen access for respective FinnGen partners or partner institutions may be limited.

The FinnGen project provides aggregated results from the FinnGen data, including the Phewas results browser websites such as https://results.finngen.fi and the datasets in the GC bucket gs://finngen-production-library-green. If you need access to this aggregated data, please check the following box:

Access to personal data of the FinnGen project is possible in the FinnGen sandbox environment. To get access to the sandbox environment, you and your employer will have to sign additional documents, you will have to undergo specific sandbox training and your application must be approved by several authorities, which is altogether a lengthy process (weeks to months). All requests for access to personal data need to be evaluated individually by the FinnGen staff. Please describe and justify your planned analyses with personal data from the FinnGen project in the following text field.

In addition, FinnGen socioeconomic data is available in a separate Sandbox (SES). The data can only be accessed by researchers in Finland. The SES-Sandbox is otherwise similar to the other Sandboxes, except that the file sharing function has been disabled. Please specify if you would like to get access to the SES-Sandbox in addition to the regular Sandbox.

If you are not sure whether you need access to personal data, we suggest that you contact finngen-servicedesk@helsinki.fi for advice. Once your account is created, you can always request personal data access to be added by sending an E-mail message to the same address.

The following text field gives you room for additional remarks on your FinnGen account request. Please use it to give us information you deem necessary or useful but which are not covered by the other fields of this form.

Please note that further information may be required from you during verification and processing of your account request. By completing and sending this application form, you consent to being contacted by the FinnGen staff for this purpose (using the E-mail address you supplied above). Furthermore, your employer may be contacted to verify your identity.
