By filling out this form the responsible professor makes a proposal for the pre-examiners. Please, see Faculty's instructions for the appendices and the impartiality of the pre-examiners before submitting this proposal. Disqualification of preliminary examiners The preliminary examiner can have no relationship with the doctoral candidate, the doctoral dissertation or another party involved that may compromise his or her impartiality. Consequently, the following persons cannot serve as a preliminary examiners: - A person, who has co-authored at least one of the articles in the doctoral dissertation or who is currently engaged in research cooperation with the doctoral candidate or was engaged in such research cooperation during the dissertation project - A person who has been engaged in close research cooperation with the dissertation supervisor during the three years prior to the preliminary examination of the doctoral dissertation - A close relative of the doctoral candidate or the immediate superior or subordinate of the doctoral candidate or the supervisor - A member of the thesis committee When proposing the pre-examiners the responsible professor confirms that the doctoral candidate has completed the postgraduate studies required for the doctoral degree and that the plagiarism recognition has been done for the dissertation manuscript. Please notice that the manuscript of the dissertation must be sent to the kumpula-phd@helsinki.fi within one week after the faculty meeting. NOTE! We have simplified the sending process. No print-outs and signatures are required. The responsible professor and the student will be asked by e-mail to confirm the submission. Please attach the list of publications to this e-form. You may also send the attachments by email to kumpula-phd@helsinki.fi. Instructions for supplying the list of publications The list of publications included in the dissertation must be downloaded from TUHAT and sent in electronic form to kumpula-phd@helsinki.fi: 1. Login to TUHAT https://tuhat.halvi.helsinki.fi 2. Left pane: select "Research output" -> "My research output". 3. Select each publication you have included into your dissertation, i.e., select the "star" on the right of each item. 4. Left pane: select "My favorites" -> "Research output". You'll see the exact list of publications included in the dissertation. 5. Check from the top of the list: "sort by: publication year" (down arrow) 6. Bottom pane: Download list -> Word -> Select the format: Short 7. NOTE! If the status of an article is not “Published”, write the current status (Accepted, Submitted) to the Word file yourself. If the status changes before the acceptance of the dissertation, inform the Faculty by sending a note to kumpula-phd@helsinki.fi. Make sure that the file contains only your thesis publications and that the references are complete and correct. This list will be in the Faculty decision, so it needs to be correct.
