Application for research facilities for 2026
The right to use the research facilities in the National Library of Finland can be applied by filling this e-form. The research facilities in the library consist of research spaces and storage units. They are intended for all users of the National Library’s collections.

We welcome applications from all educational backgrounds and affiliations. The applications are evaluated particularly with the following criteria:
- The relevance of National Library's collections and resources to applicant's research
- The applicant's current requirements for a workspace
- The active use of the workspace and library's services
The research spaces and storage units are free of charge.
Available research facilities for 2026:
1) Research spaces in the South Hall, 6 months (1.1.–30.6.2026), 10 spaces
- all carrels have lockable rolling cabinets and c. 2 metres of shelf space for reading room loans (not Fennica or Special Collections materials)
2) Research spaces in the South Hall, 12 months (1.1.–31.12.2026), 10 spaces
- all carrels have lockable rolling cabinets and c. 2 metres of shelf space for reading room loans (not Fennica or Special Collections materials)
3) Research spaces in the Slavonic Library, 5 months (1.1.–31.5.2026), 4 spaces
- all carrels have lockable cabinets and shelf space for reading room loans for materials in the Slavonic Collection
4) Shelves in the North Hall, 12 months (1.1.–31.12.2026), 20 shelves
- approx. 80 cm of shelf space for reading room loans (not Fennica or Special Collections materials)
5) Cabinets in the Rotunda, 6th floor, 12 months (1.1.–31.12.2026), 4 cabinets
- lockable cabinets (106x50x42 cm)
6) Lockers in the Rotunda, 1st floor, 12 months (1.1.–31.12.2026), 12 lockers
- lockable lockers (36x37x45 cm)

Applicants will be notified by 8 December 2025.
