Digitization and cataloging workflow.
1. Print out the TAPE ID on a paper. TAPE ID sheet downloadable via this link. The TAPE ID is the digitization date with the number of digitized tape per the current date in running order at the end [TAPE ID: yyymmdd_0#], e.g. 20180621_01.2. Digitize the audio tape as high resolution sound file (preferable 192 kHz, 24 bit, wave)3. Connect the sound card output to video camera and shoot the running of the tape in order to trace back the edits when they pass the play head. Place the TAPE ID visible in the picture.4. Repro-photograph the tape, the reel and the container. Place the TAPE ID visible in the picture. 5. Fill-in the cataloguing details of the tape, the reel and the contained with this eLomake. 6. Copy all digital files (audio, video, picture) in to the same folder in a digital archive. 7. Name the folder with the TAPE ID. 8. Rename the files with TAPE ID and file extension.9. Place the printed TAPE ID sheet in the original tape box.
The form consists of five steps:
- Digitization details- Container details- Tape/Reel details- Audio content details- Physical archive informationNB! In some cases information marked on the container is not consistent with the markings on the tape reel nor with the actual tape content, thus, the data has to be gathered on all three levels.
