Documentation of teaching qualifications
Applicants for teaching positions or for the title of docent must document their academic teaching qualifications in a concise format, following the writing instructions and headings provided by the Faculty.
Teaching skills are assessed using a matrix designed for the purpose (
see appendix
). Applicants must document their teaching qualifications clearly enough that they can be assessed using the form for the documentation of teaching qualifications and the matrix for the evaluation of teaching skills.

1. Pedagogical training
Applicants must list their previous pedagogical training, the training provider (Research and Development Unit for Medical Education, Centre for Research and Development of Higher Education, Association for Medical Education in Finland, etc.), the scope of training (hours and credits) and the year when it was completed.

2. Practical teaching experience
The application documents must describe the amount and nature of teaching experience in relation to the position applied for and its field, if specified, as well as indicate the diversity of the teaching experience.

2.2. Postgraduate education and/or professional postgraduate and continuing education as well as doctoral education
Applicants must describe their work as a teacher and as a developer of teaching and assessment methods. Applicants must also indicate the organisational level where they have developed teaching (discipline, unit, institute or department, faculty, university, inter-university cooperation).
2.3. Supervision of theses and dissertations of different levels
a) Bachelor’s thesis (6–8 cr)

2.4. Expertise in various learning methods and environments
Learning methods include lectures, interactive lectures, problem-based small group teaching, practical assignments, individual supervision, mentoring and web-based teaching. Learning environment typically means locations, facilities, communities or approaches that have been pedagogically designed to support and promote learning (e.g., virtual and mobile learning environments, skills workshops, health centres or hospitals). 3. Production of learning materials
3.1 University-level publications and learning material
Evidence must be presented, and the publisher must be specified (web addresses, etc.). Publications and learning material prepared for other levels of the education system must also be separately listed.
3.2. Textbooks
Applicants must specify whether they have worked on an editorial committee and/or as an author of a textbook. Applicants must also mention the title, number of pages and publication year of books that they have edited as well as the title and number of pages of chapters that they have authored.

Applicants must present their publications on educational development, teaching experiments or other research on higher education.

4. Other teaching merits
4.1. Participation in curriculum design, academic administration and the preparation of documents that guide teaching
Applicants must report the work groups, committees and councils of departments, institutes, degree programmes, the Faculty and the University as well as external bodies associated with education in which they have participated, and must describe the nature and duration of their activities in them (e.g., chair, member, deputy member, expert member).
