Application for the One Health Early Career Champions Program 2025–26

The One Health Early Career Champions is a mentoring program for a selected group of doctoral researchers and senior academics from the universities of Helsinki and Nairobi.

The Early Career Champions program is part of the strategic partnership between the two universities. It promotes the career advancement and international networking of early career researchers and senior adademics from various disciplinary backgrounds, focusing on One Health. The term of the membership is 1.8.2025–31.12.2026.

As a member, you will agree to participate in monthly seminars, 4 workshops, mentee – mentor sessions and other possible events and tasks. The events are organized online and on site in Finland and Kenya.

Eligibility and assessment

1. Mentees

Registered doctoral researchers from the universities of Nairobi and Helsinki are eligible to apply.

Selections will be made by taking into account the following aspects:

the stage of the applicant's doctoral studies
motivation to participate in the program
benefit for the applicants’ research work as indicated in the form.
diversity in research areas

2. Mentors

experience in supervising doctoral researchers
motivation to participate in the program
benefit for the applicants’ international collaboration as indicated in the form.
