This webinar is part of eLTER SPF Webinars
To introduce the WAILS concept - the Whole Systems Approach to In-Situ Research on Life-supporting Systems - we are organising a two-part SPF webinar series:
Part I - 9th of October 2024 at 13:00 CET
Part II - 16 October 2024 at 13:00 CET
WAILS combines research on horizontal interactions between social systems and their environments with research in macrosystem ecology with its vertical interactions and scaling. The presentations during this webinar will show how eLTER's WAILS concept can be applied to both the socio-sphere-based research as well as biogeochemistry.
The presentations during the webinars will first introduce and explain eLTER's WAILS concept, followed by a case study of how it can be translated into biodiversity research (part I) as well as into the socio-sphere-based and biogeochemistry research (part II).
Programme (part I):
- Overview WAILS (Tomas Dirnböck)
- WAILS and Biodiversity research (Ingolf Kuehn)
Programme (part II):
- WAILS from socio-sphere-based research perspective (Daniel Orenstein, Veronika Gaube)
- WAILS - linking the biophysical with the socio-ecological systems (Nikos Nikolaidis)
All are welcome to join this open and free webinar but registration is required.
