Towards a whole-system approach for ecosystem science - eLTER Science Conference, June 23-27, 2025

The first eLTER Science Conference (Tampere, Finland, 23-27 June 2025) will bring together scientists, site owners and stakeholders across disciplines, who are striving for the holistic understanding of complex interactions between living organisms, humans, and their physical environment in the critical zone. The conference will nurture disciplinary and multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary dialogue among and between researchers and science stakeholders. Such dialogue enables actionable knowledge for maintaining conditions of habitability and wellbeing of current and future generations on our planet.

What will make this conference unique is the focus on not only high level scientific presentations, but also stimulating workshops contributing to eLTER’s holistic, whole-system approach to knowledge generation.

This is a call for Workshop topics you would like to organise/participate in during the Conference. Among the topics for workshops could be, e.g., hands-on in eLTER legacy data management, challenges in long-term observations, multi-scale and multidisciplinary modelling, as well as opportunities to link disciplines in an inspiring way. Workshops could provide unique opportunities to co-produce knowledge and create transformative science through exchanges with stakeholders, non-academic users and artists. Further, topics of interest for the Site and Platform Coordinators and early career researchers are encouraged.

Please provide an indication of the format and length of the workshop (2 to 4 hours), suitable convenors, a description of the content, and an estimate of participant numbers.

Workshop suggestions can be made using this form until 1st of June 2024.

We will communicate outcomes to session proposers at the end of June 2024.

Thank you for your suggestions. We look forward in meeting you at the eLTER Science Conference!
