Mapping research groups for HSSH affiliation: what is this questionnaire for?
The mission of HSSH is to support multidisciplinary research networks, facilitate cooperation between research groups and advance methodological innovations and solutions.
In this work, actively working research groups are in a decisive role. We want to help research groups to build networks, engage in discussions about methodologies and usage of different kinds of data, strengthen international contacts and support the emergence of new groups.
This work begins by drawing a map of the active research groups at the center campus and creating an inventory of their topics, key questions, methodological strengths and data.
This survey is an invitation to research groups working (broadly) in the field of social sciences and humanities to identify themselves and to affiliate (as groups) to the HSSH network.
We ask you to spend some time to answer some basic questions about your group through this link. We will use this information to create an overview of themes, topics, methods, key questions and data, contact people, and so on. We will share this overview later this spring, and will update it regularly.
The task of identifying what constitutes a “research group” is up to you. We assume research groups can take different forms, but here are some characteristics that we think might apply. A research group can be a team of people working on a topic or research problem in a way that extends singular projects. It can be a community focusing on methods, particular approaches, theoretical problems – or specific kinds of data. A group can have a name or a brand, and if not it can name itself. It can have extensive funding – or it can be in the process of finding resources. The size of a group can vary but its members should work concretely together. A group can be effectively contacted by reaching out to one of its members. You can suggest other key identification markers!
Please choose someone from your group and send us your self-descriptions through the questionnaire.
By mapping the research groups and creating a network of affiliated groups HSSH is planning to
• produce a series of workshops that supports ongoing projects and bring them together to solve up-to-date questions,
• solicit ideas for invited visiting researchers and speakers,
• open calls for targeted resources to support new innovations and emerging research topics
• … and invent other ways of supporting SHH-research.
By answering the questionnaire, you and your group can be affiliated with the network where these future activities will take place.
We are well aware that all question might not fit all groups. When there is no relevant answer, leave the space empty. When you have important information, issues or comments that do not find a place, please use the final “open feedback” slot (question 6) to tell us important things we neglected to ask directly!
Feel free to ask for more information.
Welcome!
