Predisposing factors for bacterial pneumonia in Irish Wolfhounds

Bacterial pneumonia is a common respiratory disease in dogs, and a significant breed predisposition has been reported in Irish Wolfhounds. Recurrence of bacterial pneumonia is common, and pneumonia is one of the leading causes of death in this breed. The questionnaire survey is part of a larger research project investigating the etiology and predisposing factors for bacterial pneumonia in Irish Wolfhounds. Identifying the underlying causes is important for the planning of preventive measures.

The survey can be answered by all Irish Wolfhound owners or former owners. The survey can also be completed for an already deceased dog.

It takes about 5-10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. You will need the dog's register information and a vaccination certificate. If your dog has had multiple episodes of pneumonia, you may also need information about veterinary visits.
