DPBM-108 CancerBio Summer School 2020
CancerBio Summer School (CBSS) has been organized annually since 2007. The general aim of the course is to keep track of the latest trends in the fast moving field of cancer biology. The course is designed to provide the students with a deeper understanding of the tenets of cancer biology and also introduce them to the latest trends in this field. We try to do so by including topics that are in vogue, by having interactive sessions, building teamwork and inviting outstanding and distinguished scientists and clinicians. The CancerBio Summer School 2020 will be centered on the most recent reviews around the hallmarks of cancer and built on the bases of the book: The biology of cancer by Robert Weinberg. The course will plunge into the open questions in the field through lively discussions between the students and with the support of an expert on each topic. The course will also look forward into the future by constructing Hallmarks of Cancer 2020.
Amazing Cancer Race: The last day of CBSS will be reserved for the Amazing Cancer Race, which tests knowledge, speed, and problem-solving skills between competing student teams in an outdoors setting.
Invited scientific experts: Juha Klefström, Outi Monni, Pia Vahteristo, Pekka Katajisto, Emmy Verschuren, Sampsa Hautaniemi, Eija Pirinen, Vincenzo Cerullo, and Pipsa Saharinen.

Participants: The course targets doctoral students interested in updating their knowledge on emerging hot topics in cancer biology. There is no requirement for doctoral school or program studentship. As it is a discussion-based course, attendance is compulsory.
Registration is open until 27.3.2020. Cancellations must be e-mailed to cancerbioss(at)gmail.com as soon as possible so that students from the waiting list can be accommodated. A no-show without cancellation will result in ineligibility for future travel and lab visit grants as well as course participation.
